Official First Android Phone

I played with this phone yesterday in San Francisco. I am far from an expert but a few items of note:

• keys are soooo flat. hard to type, not nearly as good as blackberry, but according to the people I was with, better than the iphone
• Google talk interface and functionality is badass, it kills blackberry messenger
• Gmail is really awesome also, a souped up version of new release, easy to use, organized
• Google maps has better localization, easier to use Google local on this than other PDAs
• Roll ball is annoying. This is a mistake. Looks like it will break easily, similar to the ones blackberry uses, should have been more like a Macbook mouse
• Dealbreaker for me: It looks SO MUCH like a Sidekick. Do people really want people to see them holding a sidekick clone? It just isn’t sexy like the iPhone

The phone doesn’t matter. Just the fact that it has Google Andriod…and people need to stop comparing phones to iPhone. Grow Up. You wont see anything equal or better than it for a LOOOOOOONG time.
